⚠️ Windows 10 Support is Ending – Here’s What You Need to Know

Microsoft will officially end mainstream support for Windows 10 on 14 October 2025. That might sound far away, but it’s worth planning ahead now so you’re not caught out later.

💻 Why This Matters

Windows is the most widely used operating system in the world – which also makes it a prime target for hackers. Microsoft regularly releases security updates and patches to keep you safe online. That’s why we always advise checking your machine is up to date.

Most updates install automatically, but it’s good practice to open Settings → Windows Update every so often to check manually. If your PC is eligible, this is also where you’ll be offered a free upgrade to Windows 11 – which we strongly recommend.

🔒 Why Windows 11 is More Secure

Windows 11 takes advantage of newer security features built into modern processors and motherboards. These features simply aren’t available on older machines, which is why Microsoft is ending Windows 10 support. After October 2025, Windows 10 PCs will no longer receive security updates, making them more vulnerable to scams and attacks.

Banks and online retailers may also view outdated systems as a security risk – so victims of fraud on unsupported systems may find they’re no longer compensated.

📝 Your Options

Option 1 – Stay Offline
If your Windows 10 computer can’t run Windows 11 but you don’t need the internet, you can keep using it safely offline. The moment it’s connected to the web, however, it becomes visible to hackers.

Option 2 – Replace or Upgrade
Windows 11 compatibility mostly depends on your CPU and motherboard. In some cases, tech-savvy users can upgrade these parts, but for most people it’s more cost-effective to replace the whole computer.

Option 3 – Buy a Modern Refurb
Reputable computer specialists often sell late-model refurbished PCs and laptops that are fully compatible with Windows 11 – usually at a significant saving compared to new models. Be cautious with online “bargains” though: some sellers force Windows 11 onto unsupported hardware, which can break as soon as it updates.

You can check whether your current CPU is compatible on Microsoft’s website.
